We’ve launched a simple way to receive your Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) benefits, including the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB), through direct deposit right from online banking!

What is the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB)? 

The Government of Canada has recently announced CERB as a new financial relief program for Canadians impacted by COVID-19. The CERB is available to any Canadian who has ceased working for a 14-day period due to COVID-19, offering a monthly $2,000 payment for up to four months for those who don’t qualify for Employment Insurance.  

If you are planning to apply for the CERB, we encourage you to enroll for direct deposit with the CRA.

We’ve made it easy to set up CRA direct deposit through online banking in just a few simple steps — just select Set up CRA Direct Deposit from the Account Services tab. This is a quick and secure way to receive these CERB payments as well as your other CRA payments including income tax refunds, GST/HST credit, and Canada child benefits. 

Remember enrolling for CRA Direct Deposit does not register you for the CERB. The CRA administers the CERB. To learn more and apply to receive the CERB, please visit the CRA website. 

Please note, if you receive employment insurance, disability benefits or public pension benefits through direct deposit already, you must also apply to receive the CERB through CRA Direct Deposit. These benefit programs are administered through Employment and Social Development Canada, not the CRA.
